Kitagwenda Secondary Schools Appeal for New A-Level Curriculum Textbooks

EDUCATION: IVAN

Secondary schools in Kitagwenda District are facing challenges implementing the new A-Level curriculum due to a shortage of textbooks. Head teachers and educators have raised concerns that, despite the government introducing a competency-based, learner-centered curriculum, schools have yet to receive the necessary learning materials.

At Kichwamba Secondary School, head teacher Beatrice Tushemereirwe expressed concern over the lack of textbooks, stating that teachers are relying on old curriculum books and guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education.

A similar situation was reported at Nyakasenyi Secondary School, where Head teacher Andrew Kashaija confirmed that teachers are struggling to adapt due to the missing textbooks.

Speaking on the matter, Kitagwenda District Education Officer (DEO), Sedas Asiimwe, acknowledged the challenge but reassured schools that temporary measures are in place.
