Health workers in Ibanda district warned over absenteeism

BY FEDNAND TUHAME

The Ibanda district chairperson Happy Herbert Mayanja has warned health workers in the public service against being unethical in the line of duty.

Speaking yesterday during a council session, Happy said that it has come to the notice of the authorities that some health workers in government health facilities are absent from official duty to attend to their private business as well as mishandling clients.

He also pointed at the lab attendant at Kihani health center II who has never been at the facility since he was appointed.

The most affected facility is Ishongororo health center IV where health workers have neglected their duties for personal businesses.

He instructed District Health Officer and Chief Administrative Officer to monitor such health workers and ensure that they are handled for not playing their role of saving human life in public health care establishments.

The district speaker hon.  Godwin Muhumuza alias Oulanya instructed responsible stakeholders to conduct meetings with health workers to conclude the matter before it worsens.

He warned health workers in Ishongororo to avoid referring patients to private clinics instead of public health facilities.
