 KITAGWENDA FISHERMEN LAUNCH CONSTRUCTION OF CLASSROOM BLOCKS

Stakeholders in Bukurungo town council, Kitagwenda district have launched the construction of a three classroom block for Bukurungo community secondary school worth 90 million shillings.

Started under the community foundation in 2023, Bukurungo community secondary school is still pending government approval in the 2025/2026 budget.

Speaking during the launch, Chris Ssozi Ganafa, the chairperson board of governors and Moses Nkundabiza, the LC3 chairperson Bukurungo town council said the school started under the support of the fishing community with the aim of saving children from walking long distances to access secondary education.

 Edrisa Musa the chairperson construction who said around Ugx60 million is needed for the completion, asked for contributions from stakeholders.

Former LCV chairperson Kitagwenda district, Robert Mugabe asked parents in the area to support education as a tool for development.

Hon. Dorothy Nyakato the Kitagwenda district woman Member of Parliament who commended the initiators of the project said government in the budget frame work considered Bukurungo community secondary school.

Officiating at the function, hon.Joseph Nulu Byamukama the area Member of Parliament who contributed 2 million shillings hailed the community in Bukurungo town council for promoting education and development.
