Residents of Kinyamugara parish, Kicheche Sub County, Kitagwenda district have a cause to smile after their 9 kilometer road was worked on.

Last year residents staged a peaceful demonstration accusing the district leadership of failure to work on the road and lobbying for a government school which stalled development in their area.

Their demonstration forced the LCV chairperson Ismail Mushemeza to ask for patience as the road was already in the district plans.

The 9-kilometer stretch, which connects Kicheche Sub County to Ibanda, is a lifeline for coffee farmers and traders transporting produce to neighboring Ibanda District.

Speaking during a monitoring exercise on the road, residents said they are now relieved. They added they have now withdrawn their earlier statement not to support government.

Eng. Moses Tugume the district engineer said the road will cost 205 million shillings.

Ismail Mushemeza the LCV chairperson Kitagwenda commended government for releasing the road fund to work on roads which will easy transport for commercial activities in the area.
