COMPLETION OF KANARA SEED SCHOOL FURTHER DELAYED
The construction of Kanara Seed School in Kanara Sub-County, Kitagwenda District, is set to be completed by June 2025 after delays pushed back the initial deadline of August 2024. The project, implemented by Skyworth Technology Service Limited at a cost of UGX 2.6 billion, is part of the government’s Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UGIFT) program aimed at enhancing access to secondary education in underserved areas.
Launched in January 2023, the school is an upgrade of Kanara Secondary School and includes the construction of six classroom blocks, an administration block, ventilated improved pit latrines, teachers’ houses, a kitchen, two science laboratories, a playground, a multipurpose hall, and an information and communication technology (ICT) library.
Speaking to Rwenzori FM,Kitagwenda District Education Officer (DEO), Sedas Asiimwe, provided updates on the project’s progress, highlighting that significant milestones have been achieved, noting that the roofing, plastering of all buildings, and other major construction works have so far been completed.
