 Water crisis hits  Kiruhura District, farmers worried

Farmers in Kiruhura district are crying foul following persistent drought that has greatly impacted on their agricultural businesses.

According to the recent statement issued by the ministry of water and environment, rain is expected in mid or late March and this has affected farmers in the agriculture sector.

Emmanuel Kyeishe the chairperson Kiruhura District Farmers Sustainable Development Association, the persistent drought has affected their dairy farming business since cows’ feed have been hit by drought.

He is now asking government to implement the micro irrigation scheme to save the situation.

Perez Matsiko Mujwani one of the dairy farmers who double as the LC3 chairperson Kenshunga sub county told our reporter that water scarcity has greatly affected them. He is now asking government to consider constructing water sources in the area.
