 UWA  launches Kibale national park Conservation Education center

For the first time, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has launched the Kibale national park Conservation Education center in Kamwenge district. 

The launch, which took place in Mainaro village, Bigodi town council Kamwenge district aims to create a more streamlined approach to wildlife conservation and education in Uganda. 

The education center worth 600 million Uganda shillings was constructed by Uganda wild life authority in collaboration with various partners, including face the future and Prima Klima. 

Speaking at the function, Martein and Harriet the directors face the future and Prima Klima observed that since 1994, the project has restored 7,152 hectares through planting of native tree species, and 2,593 through facilitating natural regeneration.

Speaking at the launching function, Philip Bangirana who represented the community development officer Kamwenge commended UWA for supporting the community in livelihood programs as well as improving tourism.

Vincent Biryomumeisho the LC2 chairperson bujongobe ward commended UWA for supporting communities neighboring Kibale national park through revenue sharing and working together in tourism development.

John Justice Tibesigwa the chief warden Kibale conservation area said the center will help in trainings aimed at conservation efforts and tourism.

Officiating at the launch, Dr.James Musinguzi said the education center will be used to engage citizens, especially young people and local communities, in active participation, education, and conservation activities. He added that UWA will be used to promote tourism hence revenue generation.
