 TRADERS DISAPPOINTED OVER LOW SALES AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS SEASON.

Formerly called Owino Market, St. Balikuddembe Market is one of the largest markets in Eastern Africa. More than 7,000 booths that line the chaotic alleys of Owino offer everything what people need for life. The largest section is the second hand fashion trade. With 15 percent most of them come from the USA, around 8,500 tons every year.

Traders in Ibanda town have expressed disappointment over the poor sales ahead of Christmas season.
Most of the traders observed that buyers have been slow to purchase goods.
Despite the fact that most shops in Ibanda have been visibly well stocked, many traders complain that they have failed to attract buyers.
Some traders have gone ahead to slash prices of some commodities in order to attract buyers

Juliet Mujinya of Juliet new collection in Ibanda town says that she stocked the shop and discounted prices to attract customers but the customer turn up has remained low.

Asa Morris and Precious Ainembabazi who operates along Bufunda Street in Ibanda town observed that this season has been worse compared to the previous year in terms of business sales comparison.
