KNOW YOUR RIGHTS IBANDA RDC TELLS PUBLIC.
As Uganda joins the rest of the world to commemorate human rights day; people have been reminded to have responsibility since freedom is not free.
Human Rights Day is observed annually around the world on 10 December. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.
This year’s theme for Human Rights Day is – “Our rights, our future, right now”
According to the Ibanda district resident commissioner Godfrey Mbetegyereize, to match with their rights, they must have responsibilities fulfilled.
He however condemned those who violet other people’s rights.
Uganda human rights commission is committed to formulate, implement, and oversee programs intended to inculcate in the citizens of Uganda awareness of their civic responsibilities and an appreciation of their rights and obligations as free people.
