Residents in Kabale ward and Kiryanga parish in Kitagwenda town council Kitagwenda district have today Monday, May 22, 2023 restored an access bridge in a community work (Burungi bwansi) that was supported by the district woman MP Dorothy Nyakato Nzibonera and Kitagwenda town council chairperson Patrick Turyamureeba.

The access bridge is on the Kabale-Kiryanga-Nyamukuraijo 8 kilometer access road that connects Kabale ward and Kiryanga parish.

Residents that spoke to Rwenzori FM Eiraka radio said the bridge was dilapidated by floods during last year’s rains that left it impassable.

The Kitagwenda town council male councilor, Johnson Byamukama, who doubles as the secretary for works, says that the said bridge is among others which need refurbishment.

Kitagwenda town council chairperson, Patrick Turyamureeba alias PAYI said that the area does not only have a challenge of roads but also lacks electricity. He asked the woman MP to find out why and to address the issue.

Meanwhile, Dorothy Nyakato Nzibonera said that after realizing that the dilapidated bridge needed refurbishment she tried to lobby for the culverts that have been installed. She urged the public to cooperate with leaders for better service delivery.
