Parents have been advised to engage their children in domestic chores and activities that can generate income.
The Mbarara City Mayor, Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi gave the advice while addressing parents at the speech day of Mbarara Quality Kindergarten at Freedom Gardens in Mbarara City.
Mayor Kakyebezi revealed that some parents have neglected their domestic responsibilities, which has deteriorated the behavior of children adding that this has contributed to the high crime rate in the country.
He warned parents against throwing the responsibility of upbringing children to teachers and house maids saying this ruins the future of their children.
According to the school proprietor, Jafari Mpima, who is also the Chairman LC1 Karugangama Cell, urged parents to keep their children busy during the long holiday as a safety precaution.
