NRM YOUTH LEADERS IN IBANDA DISTRICT ARRESTED FOR STEALING 54 MILLION PARTY FUNDS

Three Ibanda district NRM youth executive leaders were yesterday evening arrested for embezzling 54 million shillings meant to facilitate youths at village level.

The arrested have been identified as NRM youth chairperson for Ibanda district Mr. Marvin Mubangizi, Edwin Kalema and Nelson Akampa all members of NRM district executive committee.

Following the outcry of youths in Ibanda district about the money sent from the NRM central executive committee to facilitate all 606 villages in Ibanda district whereby each village was supposed to receive 90,000 shillings and 10,000 shillings per individual, this money fell in hands of hungry leaders.

Speaking to our reporter, the Ibanda district NRM vice chairperson Dr. Innocent Atuhe said that they were surprised to find out that 54 million shillings which was meant for youth ended up in the pockets of a few.

The assistant RDC for Ibanda district Mr. Banjo Richard said that the arrested have been handed over to police and must refund this money in one week.

Dickson Kiiza Kasabikoto the Ibanda municipality NRM youth vice chairperson said that it’s very absurd to find fellow youth in corruption scandals.
