LEVI AMARAKUTUNGA MISSES COURT FOR SECOND TIME
BY IVAN MUGISHA; KITAGWENDA
Tensions flared at the Grade One Magistrate Court in Kamwenge yesterday after four suspects, including Levi Amarakutunga, the Kitagwenda District Councilor representing Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), failed to appear for a second time in a highly emotional child murder case.
Amarakutunga and his three co-accused are facing charges in connection with the brutal murder of 4-year-old Trinah Ainomugisha.
The suspects had previously missed a scheduled court appearance on April 14, 2025, and were re-summoned to appear yesterday, May 8. Their continued absence sparked outrage among grieving family members and the public.
By 9 a.m., relatives and supporters of the deceased had gathered at the court, anxiously awaiting the proceedings. When it became clear the suspects would not appear, chaos ensued. Angry relatives demanded answers from court officials, decrying the delay in justice.
Speaking to Rwenzori FM, Catherine Nyakato, mother of the late Trinah, voiced her heartbreak and frustration over the suspect’s failure to appear in court.
