KAMWENGE DISTRICT GRAPPLE WITH SEVERE DAMAGE TO ROADS,BRIDGES.

Kamwenge District is grappling with severe damage to roads and bridges caused by the recent heavy rains and floods.

In response to the ongoing destruction, the LCV Chairperson, Joseph Karungi, has issued a public warning urging residents to exercise caution when traveling, especially during the night.

He highlighted the dangers posed by pit holes and collapsed bridges, advising the community to avoid nighttime travel and ensure they have proper lighting if they must go out.

Karungi’s statement follows the continued impact of the floods, which have severely damaged road networks and infrastructure across the district. He particularly mentioned Kabuga Road, which has been one of the most affected areas. The Chairperson explained that the contractor responsible for the road has not yet officially handed it over to the district, but will soon address the issues, including reinstalling culverts at the damaged Katibani Bridge.

In addition, Karungi confirmed that district authorities are taking immediate action. They will today begin assessing all affected roads and prepare for maintenance as soon as the rains subside.
