IBANDA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL TO ARREST ALL PEOPLE DEGRADING ENVIRONMENT

Ibanda municipal council has threatened to arrest all people who will fail to adhere to the call to vacate wetlands and stone quarry activities along Ibanda hill.
The resolution was reached during a monitoring tour to Ibanda hill where stone quarry activities are taking place and Nyabukurungu where Nyabuhikye prisons farm has degraded the environment.
While leading the team, the Ibanda resident district commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Mbetegyereize promised continued sensitization of local leaders and land owners on the dangers of environment degradation.
Mbetegyereize also warned that those who will remain noncompliant will face the wrath of the law.
Ibanda Municipality deputy mayor, Deus Warugaba said that though the hill has been a source of income to some people, stopping all activities will benefit many.
Meanwhile; the Ibanda municipal environment officer, Robert Tumwesigye recommended an immediate stoppage of such activities, emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment.
