 IBANDA DISTRICT HEALTH WORKERS TO BE SUSPENDED OVER EXTORTION

Health workers at Ruhoko, Ishongororo and Kyikyenkye health centers have been accused of asking for bribes from patients before delivering service.     The vice has reportedly become so rampant denying the poor patients services that should be free.     They accuse the health workers of charging exorbitant amounts of money for patients to receive treatment at the facility.      
speaking yesterday during a council session, Happy Herbert Mayanja the LCV chairperson Ibanda said he has received complaints with evidence Information obtained by Uganda Radio Network-URN indicates where health workers at Ruhoko and Ishongororo are forcing patients especially pregnant mothers to pay between 200.000/= to 300.000 to access services at the hospital’s Theater. 

He further pointed out one health work identified as Zalamba from Kyikyenkye health center four who is ever absent hence stalling services

In his response, Dr.Julius Bamwiine the Ibanda district health officer said some of the health workers have already received suspension and will face disciplinary action.
