Coffee farmers and traders in Ibanda district are worried of the falling coffee prices .

Baziriyo Kusasirwa, a coffee dealer at Lumu coffee factory in Kyereta cell Kagongo division Ibanda municipality has attributed the substantial drop in coffee prices to farmers who harvest premature coffee leading to production of low quality coffee.

Kusasira adds that the dry season in the months of January and February led to the ripening of coffee at an early stage which also tampered with its quality.

Currently, a kilo of coffee (clean) buys at shs10000 from shs19000 before March 2025.

Julius Besigye, a farmer and coffee buyer in Kyereta cell told our reporter that after realizing a sharp fall in the prices of coffee, farmers decided halt selling the crop posing a decline in the business.
