Authorities in Kitagwenda district Kitagwenda town council chairperson on Thursday launched the new landwhere vendors of Kitagwenda Central Market will be operation.

During the last council session at Kitagwenda town council, councilors passed a resolution to shift from the privately rented land to a government land in Katerera village in Ntara ward which half a kilometer away.

However this had created a rift among vendors where some were supporting the move while others against it.

Speaking to the vendors during a meeting to launch the market land held at the new market grounds, the LC3 chairperson Kitagwenda town council Patrick Turyamureeba said that as leaders they agreed to shift the market from a private land to a government one for strategic reasons.

He warned them to avoid spreading false propaganda that the market was not shifted which is against development in the area.

While launching the market land, the RDC Longino Bahebwa asked the town council authorities to carry out enforcement to apprehend those opposed the move.
