The outgoing Police Public Relations Officer for the Kigezi Region, Elly Maate, has confirmed his transfer to the Rwenzori East Region based in Kasese.
In a farewell message shared with members of the media and the public in Kigezi, Maate said the Inspector General of Police had transferred him to Rwenzori East in the same capacity as regional police spokesperson.
Maate noted that the transfer comes as he prepares for retirement in the next two years.
“I am thankful to all of you for the cooperation you have always extended to me and the entire police fraternity in Kigezi Region in matters concerning policing,” Maate said.
He described Kigezi as his second home, having served in the sub-region since 2011.
Maate also announced that Nelson Tumushime will replace him as the Kigezi Regional Police Public Relations Officer. Tumushime is being transferred from Rwenzori East Region.
He expressed appreciation to the Kigezi media fraternity and the wider community for their continued support during his tenure.
“Thank you so much to the entire journalism fraternity under the wise leadership of our chairperson and the entire community. Be blessed,” he said.
Maate’s transfer is part of a wider redeployment of senior police officers announced on May 25, 2026.
