There is a sigh of relief among residents of Kabale Ward in Kitagwenda Town Council following the launch of rehabilitation works on the Kyotamushana – Katoma road by district authorities.
The 12-kilometer road, which links Kitagwenda Town Council, Buhanda and Mahyoro Sub-counties, had gone for years without any major upgrade, leaving it in a deplorable condition.
According to the Kyabatimbo Cell LC1 Chairperson, Januario Kazooro, the road had become nearly impassable, severely affecting the movement of goods and services.
During the launch event held on Tuesday, Kitagwenda District Engineer, Francis Timanywa, announced that the rehabilitation works will take two months to complete.
Kitagwenda Town Council Chairperson, Patrick Turyamureba, noted that the poor state of the road had depressed local agricultural prices. He, however, expressed concern about the lack of electricity in the area and appealed to the government to intervene.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) cautioned contractors and leaders against substandard work, emphasizing transparency and accountability.
