23 MOTORCYCLES DESTROYED, EIGHT ARRESTED OVER MALICIOUS DAMAGE IN RUBANDA DISTRICT.
Eight arrested over malicious damage in Rubanda district

RUBANDA
The territorial police in Rubanda district are investigating circumstances surrounding the alleged malicious damage to property incident that occurred on the 23/10/2025 at around 16:30 hours at Nyamatembe cell Kacerere town council Rubanda district.
Information was received from OC Station Bufundi to the effect that there was a group of people from Rubanda town who had gone to attack the home of one late Nyongozi on allegations that their son only identified as Denis stole a motorcycle from Kabale town and that they suspected him to be hiding in the said home.
According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, upon reaching the area, the suspect and exhibit could not be found and in the process the boda boda riders destroyed the fence of the said home which prompted the locals to mobilize themselves and confront the attackers.
Maate explained that consequently, the locals managed to overpower the boda-boda men who abandoned their motorcycles at the scene.
The locals went ahead and damaged some motorcycles and threw them in the river.
A team of police officers led by ASP Ahimbisibwe OC Station Rubanda responded to the scene, which was processed and documented.
Twenty three (23) motorcycles were retrieved and are parked at Rubanda CPS and nine suspects among the boda-boda men were arrested while three boda-boda men who were beaten by the community are admitted at Muko HC1V.
