UNEB DISMISSES FALSE REPORTS ABOUT MOCK EXAMS
EDUCATION
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed media reports suggesting it plans to start setting mock examinations for schools, calling the claims false and misleading.
In a statement issued this week, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo clarified that the board is not mandated to set mock exams and has no intention of doing so.
Odongo attributed the confusion to the media’s interchangeable use of the terms mock exams and pre-tests, noting that the two serve very different purposes.
He explained that the ongoing pre-tests currently being conducted in selected schools are part of UNEB’s internal quality assurance process.
He echoed that mock examinations remain the responsibility of individual schools and district education departments, which use them as preparatory tools ahead of national examinations.
UNEB urged all stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, and parents, to disregard the misleading reports and rely solely on official communication from the board regarding national assessment matters.
