SEVERAL PEOPLE ARRESTED IN KISORO ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

Several people arrested in Kisoro electoral violence

The territorial police in Kisoro district are investigating circumstances surrounding the alleged electoral violence.

Hon. John Kamara, his Bodyguard and a few of his supporters have been arrested for electoral violence.

It’s alleged that, on November 25, 2025 at around 1400hrs Hon. John Kamara, the Bufumbira North Constituency Member of Parliament and the contestant for the same seat under independent ticket, his military bodyguards and some of his supporters were arrested for electoral violence related cases. 

On November 25, 2025 at around 0900hrs, the MP Contestant for Bufumbira North Rtd CP Habyara reported at Nyaarubuye Police Station that one of his supporters, one Emmanuel Eragena, was assaulted by the supporters of Hon. Kamara at Kageyo/Rugabano Trading Centre.

The OC Nyarubuye one CPL Obworot Samuel and PC Mandali Charles responded to the scene and on reaching, they found the victim in one of Hon. Kamara’s car is tied and bleeding.

When the officers tried to remove the victim, they were assaulted, put at gunpoint and disarmed, arrested PC Mandari and banded him with the victim in the same vehicle. 

CPS Kisoro dispatched a team that intercepted the two vehicles and brought them to the main station.

Hon. Kamara, all his bodyguards and a few of his supporters were arrested and now in police custody.
