 residents stranded as landslide sweeps a village in Ibanda district.

Residents of Njembe I village in Kigunga Parish Rukiri Sub county Ibanda district were left helpless after a land slide hit their area on Friday.
The land slide that that resulted from heavy down pour that lasted for 3 hours washed away homes, gardens and properties worth millions of money.
Some of the residents who talked to our reporter said that they are now stranded since their crops and other properties were washed away by the landslide. They are appealing for government’s intervention.
Paddy Katehangwa the chairperson LCI Njembe village one home was washed away by the landslide but no life was lost. He added that they were taken to Kigunga church of Uganda where are staying. He is now asking leaders to help them affected family.


Dinavence Namukisa one of the family members whose home was washed by the landslide said they were left with nothing since all their properties was washed away by the landslide.
When contacted for a comment over the matter, Sylas Byaruhanga the Rukiri sub county chief attributed the landslide to poor methods farming.
He added that they are compiling data to be sent to the district for possible interventions.
