Mukyiga joins race to unseat Karungi

At least four candidates have so far shown interest to contest for the Kamwenge district LCV seat.
This race has been boosted by a renowned journalist and radio maestro Yunicent Mubangyizi commonly known as Afande Mukii Mukyiga omugogozi who hails from Bunyonyi I, Rugonjo ward in kahunge town council.
Mukyiga who currently serve as the male district youth councilor has raised through ranks and lost district speakership position by a whisker.
After announcing his candidature, the opinion polls made him the favorite among other contenders including incumbent Joseph Karungi, veteran journalist Robert Turyomurugyendo Katemmburura and Geoffrey Byarugaba.
Mukyiga who will contest on NRM ticket is seen to the option and better alternative to the current region.
His focus is on health, education, agriculture and job creation.
