Coffee farmers in Kagongo division Ibanda municipality have deployed guards to protect their coffee plantations from thieves who have started harvesting their coffee at night.
This comes following the increased prices of coffee in Ibanda municipality.
Apparently a kilo of clean coffee is sold between 11,000/=and 13,000/=shillings.
According to Adriano Kweyamba, the chairperson LCIII Kagongo division, thieves have resorted to stealing coffee and domestic animals during night time which has forced farmers to deploy guards.
