Kizito noted that residents are the first line of defense in protecting telecom infrastructure, urging them to question and verify anyone working at tower sites.

According to UCC, telecom operators in Uganda recorded over 820 cases of cable vandalism, 283 incidents of fuel theft, and 90 battery thefts between 2022 and 2024. The theft of copper, batteries, and diesel has caused widespread service disruptions in districts such as Sheema, Kaliro, and Masaka, costing companies millions and disrupting essential services, including healthcare and security.
