4 suspects arrested over Kyamate dormitory fire.

At least one student named Bonus Ankwatireire from Isingiro district has died in the fire that gutted two male dormitories at Kyamate secondary school in Ntungamo Municipality on Sunday evening.  

Several properties belonging to students including Mattresses, beddings, beds, books and other personal property were destroyed.

The school head Master Emmanuel Arinaitwe noted that the fire started at around 9:30pm at Nyerere and Mandela dormitories allegedly started by arsonists and three students’ sustained injuries.

According to police 4 students have been detained at Ntungamo police station on suspicion of setting ablaze the dormitories and police recovered an empty plastic can suspected to have contained petrol behind the fence of the dormitory.

The LCV Ntungamo District Samuel Mucunguzi called for forensic investigations to ascertain the cause of the fire and the reason behind the arsonists.
