Uganda police force embarks on regional familiarization tour in Kigezi

The Kigezi Regional team has embarked on a one week regional tour where they will be meeting with men and women in the UPF and brief them on a number of issues security of life and property; customer care, general supervision; discipline; teamwork; rules/principles of engagement (survival skills) and the forthcoming general elections among others.

According to the Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the tour is being headed by SSP Wabwire Alex the Regional Police Commander Kigezi alongside other Regional officers namely D/SSP Wathum Benson the Regional CID Officer, D/SP Nyakojo Methodius the Regional Crime Intelligence Officer, SP Mwebembezi Gilbert Kags the Community Liaison Officer, SP Gumisiriza Cryton the Regional Logistical Officer, ASP Ndagije Arnold the Regional Human Rights and Legal Officer and D/IP Tumushabe Silver the Regional Police Standards Unit (PSU).

He explained that the tour started on Monday, 01st September, 2025 with Kanungu district in the morning hours and later proceeded to Rukungiri district in the afternoon.

On (02/09/2025) the team was in Kisoro district where they met with District Police Commander and Heads of Department and the Officer In Charge (OC Stations) of all the Sub County Police Stations and in the evening they visited Bunagana and Kyanika border points and met with Immigration officers, GISOs, URA officials, CMI officers, ESO and other security organs deployed at the border points.

On Wednesday, (03/09/2025), the team will proceed to Rukiga district. Rubanda district on 04/09/2025 and end with Kabale district on Friday 05/09/2025.

This arrangement is a continuous program after the visit of the Director CPC AIGP Bamunoba Ubaldo within the region last Thursday where he met all the senior officers to tip them on what need to be done before during and after the elections.

On the same note, we ask the general public to adhere to the electoral commission guidelines when going for nominations that start tomorrow for a smooth and peaceful exercise.
