Nine arrested with stolen items during a disruptive operation at Acholi quarters in Kasese district

The DPC Kasese carried out intelligence led disruptive operations around Acholi quarters, Nyamwamba west cell, Nyakasanga 2 Ward, Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality, Kasese district on 04.08.2026 at around 1900hrs leading to an arrest of 09 suspected wrong elements involved in criminal activities of phone snatching, burglaries and thefts.
The Rwenzori East Region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate identified the suspects as;
1. Muhindo Derick M/A 18yrs,
2. muhindo Lindi M/J 17 yrs,
3. Mumbere Wilson M/A 25 yrs,
4. Baluku Silver M/A 37 yrs,
5. Amanyire Anold M/A 26 yrs, all residents of Nyamwamba West,
6. Masereka Gaste M/A 20yrs , Resident of Kyondo cell, Scheem ward , Nyamwamba Division.
7. Kiiza Karukasi M/A 20Yrs, resident of Kyondo cell , Scheem Ward , Nyamwamba Division.
8. Mumbere Joel M/J 16 yrs, Kyondo cell , Scheme ward, Nyamwamba Division.
9. Bwambale Godwin M/A 18yrs, resident of Kizungu cell, Nyamwamba Division.
Police also recovered items and they include the following;
1. 03 Television sets
2. 02 whoofer sets
3. 02 Amplified Speakers
4. 01 an extracted window
5. Approximately 40 Maroon Iron sheets.
6. 06 TV remotes
7. 01 Amplifier
8. 01 Mistin
9. 01 Weighing Scale
10. 02 Laptops
11. others
The suspects were charged on holding charges of being in possession of Narcotic drugs, Possession of suspected stolen property pending further screening and investigations.
The continuous operations in the municipality, intend to disband the regrouping gangs in the area as well as reducing the crime rate.
