Kabula MP Enos Asiimwe Survives Assassination Attempt after Dramatic Escape in Lyantonde

Kabula County MP Enos Asiimwe Kinywamacunda narrowly survived an alleged assassination attempt on March 15, 2026, at a hotel in Lyantonde District.
According to reports, armed assailants targeted the legislator while he was at Court Yard Hotel, forcing him to jump from the third floor in a desperate attempt to escape. He sustained injuries during the fall.
His brother, Moses Kamama Kinywamacunda, said the MP is currently receiving medical care for wounds sustained in the incident.
Kamama added that investigations are ongoing, with authorities treating the matter with seriousness as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Lyantonde, Dorcus Natukunda, confirmed that security agencies have launched a probe to identify the perpetrators and determine their motives.
The incident adds to growing concerns over the safety of political leaders, as cases of targeted violence and threats continue to be reported in parts of the country.
