INCREASED DRUG ABUSE REPORTED AMONG YOUTH IN IBANDA
Leaders in Rukiri Sub County, Ibanda district have warned the youth against drug abuse which can ruin their lives.
The warning follows the increased rate of drug abuse among the youth in the area which has worried authorities.
According to the Health Management Information System Surveillance report on alcohol and drug use indicates the highest consumption to be in the central region at 39%, northern region at 24.2%, eastern at 20%, western at 17%.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our reporter, Flavia Nuwaga the woman councilor Nyarukika parish noted that a number of the youth are addicts of drug substances.
She added that such youth have become a threat to the community through staging robberies and house breaks.
Chrispus Mwebembezi the deputy speaker Rukiri sub County who doubles as the Councilor Katembe parish urged youth to be innovative and find what to do instead of being idle.
