IBANDA RESIDENTS WORRIED OVER INCREASED HOUSE BREAKS AHEAD OF CHRISTMAS
Residents of Kyaruhanga ward, Kagongo division, Ibanda municipality are worried over the increased housebreaks and robberies ahead of Christmas.
Kyaruhanga ward has been on several times evaded by thieves who break into people’s house stealing properties and animals.
Residents and leaders have been calling on police and security agencies in Ibanda to intervene and rescue the situation.
According to residents, thieves who move at night armed with machetes have become common in Kyereeta, Kitwe and Rwamabaare cells causing insecurity and havoc.
The LC 1 Chairperson Kyaruhanga one Stephen Tumwine told a security meeting convened to address the matter that residents are now living in fear due to invasion by thieves.
Stakeholders who attended the meeting however pinned police of releasing suspects whenever they are arrested.
The O/C Station Ibanda central police station Duncan Kansiime who attended the meeting LC1 chairpersons to register most people who resident in their areas for easy identification of criminals.
Before the meeting ended, one suspect whose names were not identified by press time was arrested and handed over to police as he tried to sell item he stole from people’s homes.
