IBANDA PWDS COMMEND GOVERNMENT OVER INCLUSION.
The councilor representing people with disabilities Bufunda division, Ibanda municipality Evans Tukwatanise has commended government for empowering people disabilities.
Uganda today joined the global community today to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities a day dedicated to celebrating the contributions of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and promoting their full inclusion in society.
This year’s national celebrations have taken place in Kumi District, Eastern Uganda, under the theme: “Improved Household Incomes for the Wellbeing of Persons with Disabilities.”
Tukwatanise noted that people with disabilities have been included on several government programs such as Emyooga, and other special grants.
However, he noted that despite the progress, poverty and inequality remain high among PWDs; which he said that the government should plan to increase their budget.
