Health authorities in Kitagwenda District have launched investigations after a student developed severe complications following a tetanus vaccination administered during a school outreach program.

Jackline Nambale, a 20-year-old student at Kicwamba Secondary School, is currently battling worsening health conditions weeks after receiving the injection, sparking concern among parents and the wider community.

Speaking to Rwenzori FM, her mother, Dinavensi Kamahurire, said her daughter has remained in critical condition since April 15, when the vaccination exercise was conducted by health workers attached to Ntare Health Centre IV.

Kamahurire appealed to both district authorities and well-wishers for urgent financial and medical support to save her daughter’s life.

Kitagwenda District Health Educator, Herbert Twongyeirwe, confirmed the incident, noting that the vaccination exercise covered 190 students, with only one reported case of complications.

He reassured the public that investigations are ongoing and emphasized that vaccines administered through official health programs are generally safe.
