11 Luzira, Mbarara Prison Inmates Score Division One in

Eleven inmate candidates from Luzira and Mbarara prisons have passed in Division One in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), according to results released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Friday at State House, Nakasero.

At Uganda Government Upper Prison School in Luzira, four candidates obtained Division One. UNEB data shows that 61 candidates were registered at the centre, down from 71 in 2024. Of those registered, 58 candidates sat the examinations, while three were absent.

Among the candidates who sat, 27 passed in Division Two, 13 were in Division Three, five were in Division Four, and nine candidates were ungraded.

At Mbarara Main Prison Inmates Primary School, seven candidates scored Division One.

A total of 40 candidates were registered at the centre, with 39 sitting the examinations and one absent.

The results further indicate that 15 candidates at Mbarara passed in Division Two, 10 in Division Three, five in Division Four, while two candidates were ungraded.

The 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations were conducted on November 3 and 4, 2025, under the theme, “Embracing security and integrity,” which was retained from the previous year.

UNEB said the results reflect a holistic assessment of learners in a dynamic environment and underscore ongoing efforts to extend access to education to candidates in special circumstances, including those in custodial institutions.
