GRASSHOPPERS DESTROY GARDENS IN IBANDA

Residents of Kafunjo cell, Bufunda ward, Bufunda division, Ibanda municipality are crying foul following swarms of grasshoppers that ravaged their gardens.
Residents, during a meeting convened in the home of Colman Mulonde the LC1 chairperson Kafunjo, noted that grasshoppers are from dozers or traps of vendors.
According to the chairperson Colman Mulonde, over 30 people have been affected.
Residents explained that the grasshoppers have ravaged their gardens such as millet, sorghum and cassava leaving them frustrated.
They are asking for government’s intervention.
Benard Baryakabo the LC2 chairperson Bufunda ward acknowledged people’s plight saying it will be taken to high authorities.
John Arinaitwe, the agriculture officer Ibanda municipality who inspected the gardens said he will write a report to the district to be sent to the ministry of disasters for assistance.
