1.4 BILLION WATER PROJECT COMISSIONED IN IBANDA.
Residents of Irimya Parish, Kicuzi Sub County in Ibanda district have a reason to smile after ACTS Uganda in partnership with Rotary club of Mbarara and Ibanda district local government commissioned a 1.4billion shillings water project that is going to provide clean and safe water.
The project which was launched in November 2023 will cover seven villages in the first phase and other seven villages in the second phase.
The seven villages include, Kagyezi, Katongole, Byakazo, Rwebiyongi, Buhindagi, Karuhisi and Rwenzigye.
While commissioning the project, lobby Jeff the ACT chief executive officer ACTS Uganda asked the beneficiary members to maintain the project for sustainability.
John Bosco Tumusiime the water engineer Ibanda district local government said Kicuzi Sub County is now at over 90% water coverage above the 57 percent the district coverage.
Hon. Peace Tumusiime the district water committee chairperson commended ACTS Uganda and other partners for supporting the district.
Hon. John Paul Ninkusiima the Ibanda south Member of Parliament commended ACTS Uganda, Rotary club of Mbarara for supplementing on government’s effort to promote development.
Officiating at the function, Happy Herbert Mayanja the LCV chairperson Ibanda district commended ACTS Uganda and Rotary club of Mbarara for supporting the project which has promoted sanitation and hygiene in the area.
Residents who talked to our reporter noted that the project is a relief since they have been trekking long distances to fetch water.
